Our last day in America. Tomorrow we are flying back to Germany. Washington was just the right place to spend this day. We started the visit at the Capitol and had our first meeting with Obama... ok you might not call it a meeting. He drove by in a back car and turned into the Capitol. We were 10 meters far from this car standing at a red light. (Yes we are not only good citizen, there is police in every corner). This was the closest we will ever come to the new president. Wow. Check the pictures with all the black cars, one of them is his. After this event we started the walk arround the Mall. Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Roosevelt Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorials, Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the new World War II Memorial. At this time we got a beautiful sunset and the Washington Monument was set in gold. The last station was the White house before we got something to eat and drink. Going back to the hotel we took the Metro and Bus. This was a little adventure but we arrived safe. Setting now in the hotel I get a bit sad. We spend nearly four great years in the United States and made a lot of friends. We will miss you all a lot. We got use to the american culture and we appriciate most of it. After tomorrow we will start all over again and we hope that we will find what we left behind.

Der letzte Tag in Amerika. Morgen fliegen wir nach Deutschland zurueck. Washington war nun genau der richtige Ort, um diesen letzten Tag zu erleben. Auf dem Programm stand die Mall und wir haben mit dem Capitol begonnen. Dort hatten wir ein kleines Meeting mit Barack Obama. OK, Meeting ist vielleicht etwas uebertrieben, er ist mit dem Auto an uns vorbeigefahren, waehren wir an der Ampel gewartet haben. Danach haben wir alle Gebaeude und Mahnmale der Mall besichtigt. Die Kinder sind ganz mutig die mehr als 7 km gelaufen. Bravo. Nachdem wir noch einen Blick auf das Weisse Haus geworfen haben, sind wir etwas essen gegangen und anschliessend mit der Metro und dem Bus ins Hotel zurueckgefahren.
Auf der Mall haben wir Washington DC in Washington WC umgetauft. Die Vorbereitungen fuer die Praesidentenvereidigung in der naechsten Woche laufen auf Hochtouren und ueberall stehen WCs herum....

Nous faisons le tour du Mall: Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Roosevelt Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorials, Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the new World War II Memorial. Puis un dernier regard sur la maison blanche... Presque 7 km de marche. Les enfants on ete supers.
Demain nous prenons l'avion vers L'Allemagne. Une autre aventure pleine d'inconnu...
